Three Books

Although I didn’t read much last year, I’ve declared that I would do my very best to read a book a month in 2018. Why is this important to me? Reading aligns with personal development, which is, per Wikipedia:
Personal development covers activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance the quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.”

Activities! Reading is one of a few activities that help people to develop and grow. Attending seminars and conferences, watching Ted Talks, and other forms of media are also part of that. I want to read more books. So here, I present books for the first quarter of the year that I plan to incorporate into my year’s personal development efforts! These will help me learn more about myself, grow intellectually and spiritually, and keep the “old fogey” way of thinking at bay!

He was a magnificent man with a magnificent mind and heart!

One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, by Ann Voskamp. If last year was anything, it was a lesson to live fully!

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo. The Kondo method of living tidy and simple has become very popular as people are recognizing the need to get rid of “stuff”. This has been something I personally believe in, and I want to read her methods!

So, please share: what are you reading or planning to read, and why?
